Best Anesthesiology School In Colorado

The University of Colorado-Boulder was established in 1876, only a few months prior to Colorado State becoming a member of the Union. The Boulder campus is considered the Flagship University and when the doors opened in 1877, there were only forty-four students in attendance with three educators. Since that time, the University has grown quite considerably. It now consists of four campuses spread across the southeastern portion of the state and boasts a student body of over 29,000 students and a faculty of 4,000. Today, the University of Colorado is considered a “Public Ivy League” university meaning that its students can receive the same level of education as that offered by any Ivy League university, without the Ivy League price tag.

The University of Colorado also boasts an impeccable anesthesiology program that has been accredited by the ABA (American Board of Anesthesiology) and the ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education). It is available as a three or four year program and is on the stunning Anschutz Medical Campus. This 3.4 million square foot facility is dedicated to medical research, education, and patient treatment. It houses the newest, state of the art technology and innovations found anywhere in the world. It was designed with three zones consisting of a research zone, education zone and a hospital to promote communication and collaboration between students, physicians, and professors.

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus has also recruited some of the best educators found throughout the nation. Many of the current professors were alumni from other nationally recognized and accredited universities such as Cornell and Harvard. There are also several fellowship opportunities in subspecialties such as Pediatric Anesthesiology, Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, and even Anesthesia Research.

Although this is the only university in Colorado that offers a program in Anesthesiology, it is by far not a last resort. The Anschutz Medical Campus is nestled in beautiful Aurora, Colorado just 20 minutes east of Denver. Classified as the third largest city in Colorado, it offers many indoor and outdoor activities to enhance any students’ educational experience.
